Is it inevitable that government agencies will use facial ID to track everyone's location?

In addition to the article linked in the question, read the article below from the Electronic Frontier Foundation and you will see that the technology to find us and track us not only exists, but is already in common use.

Is it inevitable…

I think that goes without argument that the technology to track everyone's location exists in many ways.

I work in a building where the halls and many of the common areas have security cameras. How many places do I frequent that also have video surveillence in use? Probably just about every public building I enter. Add face recognition software to the mix, and you could create a database of my every move.

The saving grace, at least from the government tracking “everyone's location” is that too much information will cause an overload of useless information. Who will determine the out of the ordinary versus the ordinary?

The issue raises numerous questions above and beyond just being able to track people as we see with numerous privacy concerns.

How will this information be used by government agencies?

Who, besides government agencies, has access to this technology?

Without restrictive limits in place, it could be relatively easy for the government and private companies to build databases of images of the vast majority of people living in the United States and use those databases to identify and track people in real time as they move from place to place throughout their daily lives.
