Who is the Cranky Cynic

I've worked in technology for five decades. I've worn a lot of hats, from military trainer, field service technician, systems engineer, and community college instructor, the common thread has always been the same: helping people truly understand technology.

Whether you're a history buff, a tech enthusiast, or simply curious about how things came to be, the Cranky Cynic challenges what you think you know about invention and uncovers the many hands behind every breakthrough.

The Cranky Cynic is my way of pushing back against the oversimplified stories we are told about invention. Instead of arguing over who invented what, I celebrate the entire chain of forgotten geeks, the visionaries who imagine, the inventors who build, the innovators who refine, and the industrialists who scale.

If you’re ready to look beyond the myths, the story of the internet — and every major breakthrough — becomes richer, stranger, and far more human.

History remembers the legend. Geek History tells the whole story.

If you've ever wondered who really invented the Internet, why some names became legends while others disappeared from history, or how yesterday's crazy ideas became today's technology, you're in the right place.

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania, I currently live in Slower Lower Delaware.

If you've ever wondered who really invented the Internet, why some names became legends while others disappeared from history, or how yesterday's crazy ideas became today's technology, that's the primary series I am working on right now.

I definitely am doing this for the love of the game, because I'm not just doing a talking head video, many of my history of the internet series had a lot of editing involved trying to explain concepts, and tell the stories of the forgotten geeks.

The Guru 42 Universe is not run by a university professor with a team of editors and advisers working to developing a website. Tom Peracchio is simply someone who loves technology and history and is amazed by how little people know about the great minds in the world of technology.
