With between 6 and 11 inches of snow having fallen in the area and strong winds causing drifts and more, Gov. John Carney issued Level 2 Driving Restriction for Sussex County only, effective at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, with a State of Emergency for Sussex County only, effective at 2 p.m. Level 2 Driving Restrictions mean that no one may operate a motor vehicle in Sussex County, except for those designated as Essential Personnel. Essential Personnel are defined as those who are necessary to maintain core functions of government, and to maintain the health and security of the people of Delaware.

DOVER , Del.- The Delaware Department of Transportation said just after 6 a.m. Thursday that it is fully mobilized for today's snow event, and more than six inches of accumulation has already been reported in Sussex County. Due to deteriorating conditions, DART will not operate regular bus services or paratransit in Sussex County; however, services in Kent and New Castle will operate with delays.
